Mid-GLAM Camp

Mid-GLAM (Middle School Girls Learning About Materials) is the first week-long Engineering summer camp at UIUC, offered to middle-school females. Mid-GLAM enrollment is 20 students and the camp operates 9 am - 5 pm. Mid-GLAM is currently supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and is completely free for participants, with lunch. During the week students are actively engaged in making and testing the materials of today as well as thinking about what the materials of the future will look like. We aim to sustain Mid-GLAM and secure support beyond NSF funding as well as inspire other units to develop more Engineering Middle-School camps. Check out these news article about Mid-GLAM in 2017 and 2018.

Engineering Open House

In March visitors find out about Materials Science and Engineering at Engineering Open House. Exhibits in the Materials Science and Engineering Building are very hands-on with quite a few directed to children in elementary grades. http://eoh.ec.illinois.edu/
