Braun elected to MRS board of directors

Professor Paul Braun has been elected to the Materials Research Society Board of Directors — the governing body of MRS —  in a vote from the organization's global membership. His three-year term is set to begin Jan. 1, 2026.

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The Grainger College of Engineering, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, is proud to announce that Professor Paul Braun has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Materials Research Society (MRS), one of the world's leading professional organizations for materials researchers.

Braun, a Fellow of MRS, will begin his three-year term on January 1, 2026, joining three other newly elected board members from institutions across the country. The MRS Board of Directors serves as the governing body of the organization, which represents 15,000 materials researchers worldwide from academia, industry and government.

The election brings representation from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to the leadership of this prestigious international organization, which is dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary materials research and technology.

The Materials Research Society produces high-quality meetings and publications, professional development programs, and advocacy efforts on behalf of the scientific community. MRS membership spans 90 countries, with more than half of members residing outside the United States.
