Get Involved
Explore all the ways you can get involved as a MatSE alum. Your involvement in the department, even well after you've graduated, has a tremendous impact on current and future materials scientists and engineers.
Participate in a Senior Design Project
Senior design projects provide MatSE students with opportunities to exercise their knowledge in materials science and engineering and creativity in developing materials-based solutions to societal problems. You can contribute to a senior design project that has direct relevance to your company’s needs and provides students with experiences that have potential for real-world impact. Advising a group of students may be an excellent recruiting opportunity for your company.
Founded in 1992, the Materials Science and Engineering Alumni Association fosters the advancement of the MatSE department, The Grainger College of Engineering, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and its alumni association. MatSE's alumni board meets twice a year, in the spring and in the fall.
Return to your roots and inspire the next generation of materials scientists and engineers. Come to campus to talk to students about the ins and outs of your career. Share inspirational career prospects for our students and give advice on what you wish you would have known or studied as a MatSE student.
To set up a visit, contact MatSE's engagement coordinator Reid Lasley or associate director of Advancement Ethan Scott.
