MatSE at Illinois aims to inspire the next generation of materials scientists and engineers with outreach activities for middle and high schoolers and teachers. Tenth through 12th-graders are welcome to join our GEMS (Gender Equity in Materials Science) Camp while 7th- through 9th-graders may attend our Mid-GLAM (Girls Learning About Materials Science) Camp to explore the materials all around us while enhancing their STEM knowledge. Teachers won't want to miss our annual ASM Materials Camp for Teachers, where they can learn the latest and greatest in materials science and engineering and learn how to incorporate it into their classrooms. Explore which camp best serves you or your kiddo.
MatSE Summer Camps
ASM Materials Camp for Teachers
Up your STEM knowledge and make those math and core science principles more exciting and relevant to your middle and high school students by attending the ASM Materials Camp for Teachers held at the U of I.
Gender Equity in Materials Science (GEMS) Camp has 10th- through 12th-graders exploring the structure and properties of materials ranging from the atomic scale to the macro-scale.
Mid-GLAM (Girls Learning About Materials Science) Camp has 7th- through 9th-graders thinking like a materials scientist by investigating how materials are put together, how they can be used, and how they can be changed or improved.
This three-session online course, led by MatSE’s faculty and grad students, will have your students exploring what’s at the heart of the materials all around us and how they impact our lives — from crystals, metals, plastics and much more.
