MatSE Professor Dallas Trinkle will receive one of the 2018 Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research awards. These awards were established to honor faculty for outstanding research. Five assistant professors are chosen by their peers based on who has conducted the most outstanding research during the last academic year. In addition, five associate professors are chosen for their outstanding research over the past five academic years.

“Professor Trinkle and his research group have made exceptional contributions to the development of rigorous and quantitative modeling of diffusive transport in alloys,” Hamer Professor of Materials Science and Engineering Pascal Bellon said. “The resulting breakthroughs have enormous potential impact on the development of new lightweight structural alloys for transportation and new and safer materials for nuclear energy systems.”

"I am very humbled to be so honored by the college of engineering; my group's success at Illinois has been possible thanks to great support from my colleagues, department, college, and university,” Trinkle said. “There is a grand tradition of developing excellence in our students, researchers, and faculty, and I am happy to be a small part of that."

Trinkle will receive this award at the Engineering Faculty Awards Ceremony on April 23, 2018.
