Devon is on the executive board of Material Advantage, one of the directors of MakerGirl, and an ambassador for the Women in Engineering program.

“In high school, I always thought I wanted to be a part of a chemical engineering department,” Devon said. “When I went to the GAMES Camp in the GLAM section – Girls Learning About Materials — my future plans immediately changed and I became fascinated by biomaterials and something called dislocations (I now have a much better understanding of what dislocations are). GLAM Camp inspired me to pursue Materials Science and Engineering in college, and here I am! I even helped run GLAM Camp as a lab assistant for two years.”

Devon was willing to share her future plans:

“In the future, I want to work in the development of aerospace composite materials. I’m planning on working for a few years before pursuing my Ph.D., ideally also in composite materials. I hope in the future that I’m able to continue being involved in community outreach programs, particularly with a STEM focus. Working for outreach organizations is something I’ve been highly dedicated to throughout college, and I hope that I can continue that even after I am no longer a student.”

“I am so incredibly grateful to be a Knight-Elect, and am honored to be a part of the incredible students that make up the Knights of St. Patrick,” Devon said, when asked about receiving this honor. “This award is a formal recognition of my hard work for many service organizations and my academic life, and I am beyond thankful to have this recognition among my fellow students. I cannot emphasize enough how much this award means to me, and how much it is a testament to the excellence of my fellow students, my professors, my friends, and the College of Engineering.”
