Scientists prove graphene's edge structure affects electronic properties

2/16/2009

Graphene, a single-atom-thick sheet of carbon, holds remarkable promise for future nanoelectronics applications. Joseph Lyding (ECE) and MatSE graduate student Kyle Ritter (now at Micron Technology Inc.) find that the orientation of atoms along the edges of the graphene lattice affects the material's electronic properties.
