Gerald Paul Wirtz, Emeritus Associate Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois, passed away on May 31, 2017 in Phoenix, Aritzona.
Wirtz was an associate professor of ceramic engineering in the MatSE Department for 25 years, and was a very active person with many interests. He will be missed deeply by his former colleagues and everyone who knew him.
