Official Description
Formation and interactions of point and line defects in solids including metals, semiconductors, dielectrics, and ionic conductors. Theoretical treatment of thermal equilibrium and non-equilibrium conditions. Application to impurity diffusion, ion irradiation, dislocation generation and motion, ionic conductivity, and deep level electronic defects. Course Information: Prerequisite: MSE 401 or MSE 501; PHYS 460 or PHYS 560.
