Dallas Trinkle has been selected as the Ivan Racheff Professor of Materials Science and Engineering. This honor is given in recognition of his distinguished scholarly achievements and leadership in the area of computational materials science.  Prof. Trinkle serves as Associate Head and is also an affiliate of the Materials Research Lab.  The Trinkle group is at the forefront of investigating fundamental properties of defects in metals and related alloys and compounds, through the use of computational tools and theoretical models that span a wide range of length scales.  Prof. Trinkle's research accomplishments have been recognized by several national awards including the Brimacombe Medal and the AIME Robert Lansing Hardy Award from The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS), the 3M Untenured Faculty Research Award and an NSF CAREER award. Additionally, he has been recognized by the GCOE Collins Award for Teaching Innovation and contributed to curriculum innovation in the department.
